I have installed chat portlet,but some features are missing like sending a friend request,declining or accepting friend request,so i installed liferay IMS,but LIMS chat will not work without jabber server.but out requirement is to do chat without a separate server(jabber server). If anybody knows please help me,its bit urgent...

I think there's a java-based implementation of jabber that you can embed within a deployed plugin to get it into Liferay...
