Table of Contents [-]
Introduction #
The Message Boards portlet included in Liferay has a feature that allows users to receive and send posts as mails, similar to how a mailing list works. This article explains how to use it
Usage #
Users can subscribe to categories in the message boards to receive by mail all the messages of that category and its subcategories. The mails corresponding to the same thread should be nested by the mail reader if it supports that functionality.
Upon receiving an email, the user can answer directly from the mail reader to have post a response in the same thread. It is also possible to write a new thread by saving the email address associated with a category and sending an email directly to it.
Administrator options #
The administrator can use the portlet configuration link (upper right corner) to:
- Enable or disable this functionality
- Configure the address that will be shown in the 'From' field of emails
- Design the text of the mail that will be sent
