The Requests portlet displays pending friends requests, in which you can accept or ignore them. This portlet can only be placed on a user's personal page. The Requests portlet is a part of the Social Networking portlet package in 6.x; in versions prior to 6.x it is a part of the World of Liferay portlet package.

How to send the friend request to other users in social networking in LR 6.0.5?

I would say that the use case is :
- on the user public pages, you have a summary portlet
- on the user private pages, you have a requests portlet

There is a link in the summary portlet to make friends requests
The requested friend then has to confirm with the requests portlet on his own private page.
