For Liferay customers who are evaluating Liferay Portal EE on a trial basis, the plugins can be accessed from within the Marketplace section of the Control Panel in the Portal itself. 

At a later date, the Marketplace website on Liferay.COM will be accessible to Liferay Portal EE Trial customers. For now, please access EE Plugins through the portal installation itself.  

 

The Installation Process

1) Sign into your Liferay.COM account (LRDC) on the homepage. If you do not have an account, please register by clicking the "Register" link located at the top-right of the page.

 

2) You must be running Liferay Portal EE (EE Trial License is OK).

 

3) After signing in as an Admin in your Liferay Portal EE Trial server, go to the Control Panel and configure the Liferay.COM (LRDC) account to login to the Marketplace (click "Store"). Use the LRDC account email and password. 

 

4) Important: Once signed into the Store, click on the "Purchased" tab, then click on the "EE" subtab.

 

Here you can see a list of Liferay EE plugins that are installed, as well as options to update or install certain plugins. To install a Liferay EE plugin, simply click the "Install" button located to the far right of the respective plugin.

 

5) Once a Liferay Portal EE Trial customer becomes an official Liferay EE subscriber, the user will gain access to Liferay Customer Portal. This also includes access to the EE plugins from the Liferay Marketplace website on Liferay.COM (LRDC).

Note: We are currently working on providing access to EE Plugins on the Marketplace website for EE Trial customers, which would also include access from within the portal installation. 

 

 

FAQ

Q: Where are the "EE Trial Plugins"? 
A: There is no such thing. The EE Plugins in Liferay Marketplace are the same ones that you get to try out with your EE Trial license for your portal. The EE license (Trial or official EE Subscriber) gives you access to the EE plugins. (Also, there is no difference code-wise or release-wise between a Liferay Portal EE Trial installation and a regular Liferay Portal EE non-Trial installation. The only difference is the license.)

Q: Why can't I go to liferay.com/marketplace? Why can't I "purchase" from the Marketplace site?
A: EE Trial users must use the Markeplace accessed from within the portal's Control Panel (instructions in this wiki). You do not need to "purchase" any EE plugins because if you access Marketplace from within your Portal's Control Panel, Marketplace will see that you have an EE license installed and give access to EE plugins. Official EE Subscription customers (i.e. - non Trial) will be able to login to liferay.com with their designated EE subscriber login and access all EE plugins through the Marketplace website.   

Q: Why are the plugins under the "Purchased" tab? If I click on the "EE Marketplace" link, it does not allow me to get the EE plugins.
A: Once you're signed into the Store, click on the "Purchased" tab, then click on the "EE" subtab.

 

Q: What happens when EE Trial customers become official Liferay Portal Enterprise subscribers?
A: They will still be able to complete the above process, or they can also visit the Liferay Marketplace website.  

 

Q: Do EE Trial customers get the EE source code?
A: No, they will only be able to install the plugin. The EE source code will become available once they are official Liferay Portal Enterprise subscribers.

 

Q: How do I change the login to Liferay Marketplace from within the Control Panel of the Portal?
A: Unfortunately, there is no way to do this directly in the Control Panel at the current moment. The workaround is to go to Liferay.COM and change the password for the account that you signed in with. On your next visit to the Store, you will be asked to sign in again.

 

Q: Can this process of installing EE plugins be used from Liferay Portal CE (Community Edition)?
A: No, the Marketplace must detect that you are running Liferay Portal EE.
