Site Templates Portlet
Table of Contents [-]
Introduction #
This portlet allows managing site templates. A site template is a hierarchical set of pages and content that can be used as a template for creating new sites.
The list of site templates is shown whenever a community or organization is shown and is applicable to public or private pages.
Site Templates allow you to define pages and web content to include when creating communities and organizations. Administrators may define and edit site templates as well as their permissions.
How to use this portlet #
Administration #
In the "Control Panel >> Portal >> Site Templates" create as many site templates as desired. Once a template is created edit it again to configure its pages.
You can create as many pages as desired and give them a hierarchical structure. Any content created will also be considered part of the template and copied whenever it's applied
Using Site Templates #
Site Templates can be used when creating Users, Organizations and Communities. The creation form will show select boxes for using a site template for either public pages or private pages (or both).
When a site template is applied a copy of its pages and contents is performed. There is no link to the original template, so any change to the site template will not have any effect on pages that originated from it.
It's also possible to apply a site template to users, organizations or communities as long as they don't have any existing public/private page (otherwise their could be conflicts.)
