We will start off with Derek Nerenberg presenting about what is new in Liferay 6.1, followed by a general discussion of what Liferay topics we should consider for future meetings. We will be serving pizza/drinks at 6.30pm.

Meeting Minutes:

Well the group got together for the first meetup of the Liferay Austin User Group at the Xtivia Austin office as planned, though with Derek being out sick, Vivek Agarwal stepped in his place to talk about some of the new features coming in Liferay v6.1. The latest version of Liferay is very feature-rich in terms of providing more out-of-the-box business value than ever before - user created custom data lists, workflow enabled forms, CMIS integration, Liferay sync with offline access to document libraries, advanced site publishing features with branches and undo/redo, faceted search, related content, dynamic site templates, user customizable pages, video playback, better mobility support, and much more. Midway through the discussion of some of the new v6.1 features, the team gorged some of the fabulous Austin original Mangia pizza and enjoyed beers. The group decided to continue to build the local Liferay community by regularly holding more of these meet-ups - with Sandeep presenting on worklows in Liferay and Keith talking about clusterlink in the next session - to be held in early January.
