Public sector customers to benefit from quick delivery of omnichannel digital experience tools

LOS ANGELES – (January 26, 2016) – Liferay, Inc., which makes enterprise, open source portals, today announced a new partnership with Carahsoft Technology Corp., the trusted government IT solutions provider. The agreement empowers Carahsoft to be the master aggregator and distributor of Liferay products for the U.S. public sector. Carahsoft will act as an extension of the Liferay sales, contracts and marketing teams and will manage all procedures and subscription agreements with government organizations choosing to take advantage of Liferay's portal technology.

Under the partnership, Carahsoft has added Liferay's flagship product, Liferay Portal, to its GSA Schedule and SEWP contracts, enabling Liferay to further expand its footprint in the public sector. Liferay Portal was recently recognized as a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals for a sixth consecutive year and provides government agencies a scalable, reliable platform for creating digital experiences on websites and mobile apps that are personalized and consistent across all devices.

"We're a firm believer that innovative open source software solutions can uniquely address evolving IT needs within government entities," said Natalie Gregory, Vice President of Open Source Solutions at Carahsoft. "Liferay's portal platform – and complementary product suite – gives the federal market enterprise proven tools to build a scalable, cost-effective solution. Organizations will like how Liferay can help them quickly deliver omnichannel digital experiences, improve employee productivity, and better engage their partners and customers. Carahsoft is excited to make Liferay our new partner in providing comprehensive portal technology to our government customers."

Government entities looking to procure Liferay Portal will benefit from the new Carahsoft partnership because the products are already fully vetted with the federal government. This negates any need for contract negotiation or for individual agencies to read and sign off on separate contracts. At the same time, working with Carahsoft on GSA, or through various other contract vehicles, ensures that all government organizations will attain Liferay Portal at the best price available. The relationship with Carahsoft will also offer public sector customers with a unique, streamlined avenue to incorporate Liferay portal into their existing Open Source infrastructure.

"Partnering with Carahsoft allows Liferay to more quickly bring industry-leading portal technologies to government agencies," said Glenn Saler, Senior Manager Strategic Alliances for Liferay. "Liferay is already actively used within many government organizations around the world, but by partnering with Carahsoft we really want to demonstrate to the U.S public sector that the time to modernize their digital experiences is now. We're excited to put our solutions to work, capably serving the portal needs of the federal market."

To learn more about Liferay, register for "Simply Accelerate Website Development with Liferay Portal," a free webcast on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. (ET) hosted by Carahsoft and Liferay.

Tweet this: @Gartner names #Liferay a Leader in the Horizontal Portals MQ now for six years in a row. #gartnermq

Gartner, a leading IT research firm, positioned the evaluated vendors in the portal market based on independent research and analysis. The Magic Quadrant gives enterprises a way to assess how well technology providers are executing their stated visions and how well they are performing against Gartner's market view. The 2015 report is available via Liferay: www.liferay.com/gartner-mq.

According to Gartner, the portal market is experiencing a resurgence: "The past five years has witnessed a massive transformation of the market for horizontal portals. "We've built the Liferay platform to make it easy to engage users with personalized, consistent experiences on the devices of their choosing. Nomination to Board of Directors underscores Liferay's increased commitment to extensible, easier to manage software

LOS ANGELES – (February 18, 2015) – Liferay, Inc., which makes enterprise, open source portals, today announced that it is now a Strategic Member of the OSGi Alliance and has been voted a seat on the Board of Directors. The announcement comes during Liferay's second year as a member of the worldwide consortium of technology innovators and will give the company representation in both the operations and technical sides of the organization.

Liferay's Senior Software Architect Ray Augé was elected to the OSGi Alliance Board of Directors. Other companies represented on the Board include IBM, Oracle, Salesforce.com, NTT, Adobe, Paremus, ProSyst Software and Software AG. Augé was also selected to co-chair the Enterprise Expert Group, which defines the technical requirements and specifications needed to use the OSGi Service Platform in enterprise business scenarios.

Liferay's expanded role within the OSGi Alliance means greater influence over the direction of OSGi specifications to meet the needs of Liferay customers. The effort also falls in line with the company's long-term investment in modularity. First introduced into the product in Liferay Portal 6.2, OSGi is a framework for developing modular Java applications that will continue to be used and developed in future versions of the platform. Liferay believes the increased componentization of applications into software modules will mean greater value for Liferay users—it will simplify portal implementations, lead to an easier development process to quickly deliver new features, and reduce complexity for maintenance and upgrades.

"We at Liferay are believers in the modular approach to software development and in the OSGi Alliance's role to reducing software complexity for the greater good," said Ray Augé, Liferay's Senior Software Architect. "With that mission in mind, we're excited to work with the smart people and experienced companies at the OSGi Alliance who are solving real-world problems for software developers."

"Ray and the Liferay team are welcome additions to OSGi Alliance's leadership group," said Susan Schwarze, VP and Director of the OSGi Alliance Board. "We look forward to the continued knowledge Liferay brings from nearly 15 years creating Java-based software that is used by some of the world's biggest companies. The technical expertise that Ray and the team bring will be an asset for the consortium and we look forward to jointly accomplishing our strategic goals for Cloud and the Internet of Things."

New audience targeting app furthers the enterprise portal provider's leadership in providing personalized user experiences

LOS ANGELES – (January 6, 2015) – Liferay, Inc., which makes enterprise, open source portals, today announced the release of its Audience Targeting app for Liferay Portal. Through the app, companies can show the right content at the right time to their visitors to create the most relevant, engaging web experience for the people they want to reach.

Increasingly, the challenge for marketers and other business users today is for ways to connect with their audiences and have online conversations through valuable, interesting content. Using the Audience Targeting app, businesses can make authentic connections with their customers, partners, employees and any other individuals visiting their sites. The app, available on Liferay Marketplace, offers the ability to tailor specific content for audiences based on user behavior on the site, user information such as age and gender, social media attributes, and more. Marketers can also create targeted campaigns, track user actions and generate reports on the effectiveness of the campaigns.

"Getting audience engagement right comes down to solving three questions," said Edwin Chung, VP of Product Development for Liferay. "Who are you trying to engage, what information is important to that person, and what is the best way to display the targeted content on your site? Whether it's your customers, your partners, or your employees, personalized audience engagement is quickly becoming an expected part of their interactions with your company. We recognize this and continue to evolve our solutions for audience engagement and content targeting to give our customers the tools they need to provide better, more customized user experiences across the board."

As a portal vendor, Liferay is in a uniquely advantageous position to serve the entire customer lifecycle, from prospecting to deal closing to ongoing customer service interaction. Using Liferay, companies can engage with customers across devices and gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs from multiple backend systems. Other engagement solutions, such as web content management (WCM) vendors whose focus is more narrowly on gaining prospects, only touch part of the customer lifecycle.

Learn more about how you can use Liferay Portal to engage audiences by visiting https://www.liferay.com/engage.

Get more details about the Audience Targeting app in our recent blog post.
