Unable to install liferay

I dont receieve any errors but when I open localhost:8080 I only see the Tomcat interface, on the webapps folder I see the ROOT Folder but I cant get to it through the browser

any hint?

PS I'm charge of evaluating the product as it was recommended to our manager, if we can get this running and we like it we will get the enterprise edition.

Are you using Liferay Tomcat bundle? Problem you've mentioned may appear when you try installing Liferay in an existing Tomcat server and the Tomcat page is stil cached. If this happens again or to any other user, try deleting the web browser cache and tomcat-xxx/temp directory.

Actually I just ran the shutdown program and then run the start batch

This sometimes happens but it's not nothing to worry about.
