how liferay language portlet behaving

Hi All,

when you change your portal language using liferay OOTB language portlet, what is the backend process to change the language.
Is it storing language id in cookie or session or in liferay preference?

None of these - check the URL. You're going to switch to a url w/ the language encoded in it which renders all pages in that locale.
