Point to liferay portal on server when configuring plugin sdk

I am new to Liferay. So I'm trying out to build my own Liferay Plugin Project. I read from tutorials and a lot of answers online that while configuring the Plugin SDK I am supposed to configure to point to the Liferay Portal location. As I have installed Eclipse + Liferay IDE on my laptop, and my Liferay Portal is on a server, I cannot point to something like D:\[Liferay portal]. Is there any advice for this? Did I miss something?

I will give u my config file as an example. build.{$username}.properties. Put this file in your sdk directory. Hope that will be helpful.
