Getting the twitter plugin to work!

I have just added the twitter to liferay 5.2.3 running on tomcat 6.0. I created a page and added the twitter plugin to the page. I configured the portal to point to my twitter account and then added an activity plugin to the page. I then tweeted on my twitter account. No updates to the page! Anyone have any clues?

Hi Burton,

It looks like it checks twitter activities every 5 minutes. Does it appear after 5 mins?

If not, then something may have changed in twitter API (I think this is the one the portlet uses. http://apiwiki.twitter.com/Twitter-REST-API-Method%3A-statuses-user_timeline)

I added the plugin last week. I have tweeted over the past couple of days and nothing shows up...

I think he means you have to have the activities portlet to your "personal community" page.

When you add the twitter portlet to your page, does it tell you what your twitter account is?

Yes it has the name of my twitter account. I also have the activities portlet on the same page.

Did you unlock the tweets from twitter.com.

Login to twitter and go to settings, de-select "Protect my updates"

Yes! I have been using tweetdeck for a couple of weeks now so I know that it isn't an issue with twitter itself.

yep in liferay ver.6 twitter doesnt work..

I'm trying to get the twitter plugin to work in liferay 6.0 and it's definitely referencing classes that no longer exist in 6.0. I'll post back if I made any progress.
