Connection between Postgres and Liferay

Hi all,
I am creating a simple portal to learn about Liferay. I would to connect Liferay with a Postgres DB. I found a guide about the using of Service Builder Framework but I didn't understanding very well the procedure.
Is there someone that could help me, please?

Thank you, I saw your link, I means to connect with an external DB. I have lportal and another DB.
I have a single portlet that has to query an external DB
