People often ask me how difficult it is to develop a simple portlet for their sites. I keep telling them it's not very difficult
but people often associate JSR286 with portlets and reading and understanding those specification is very difficult.
This article shows that you really don't have to fully understand JSR286 specification to develop a simple portlet such
as a slide show.
The article teaches how to set up Liferay IDE and develop slide show portlets using jquery, Alloy UI, and Web Content portlet.
