Users are not able to login!

Dear buddies,

Students at my uni are not able to login into liferay. There was a lightning last night and every server went down, we just started the server thats hosting liferay. I am able to connect but not the students.

Not sure if the problem is in Active Directory or at Liferay's side.

The error which they get is something like "Authentication failed. Please try again. "

Please throw some light!

just check,

1) Control panel--> server Admin --> Reindex all search indexes. excute this.

I am having the same problem. However reindexing the search does not help. I can login with my admin user, but no one else. I have even impersonated the user I am trying to login as and confirmed that the password and email are equal.
Any ideas why I am not able to login with these user?

Are you using LDAP? When Liferay can't connect to LDAP, only the admin can login in case you entered wrong ldap info. Try checking your LDAP server and if Liferay can still connect to it.

Awesome, that was my problem. I had tried to setup LDAP unsuccessfully and then when trying to login as a different user hours later I forgot I had altered the portal-ext.properties file.
