BBB client (A web conference client) for Liferay 6.1

Hello Friends,

I need BBB client in Liferay 6.1.
Yes, BBB client is already there as per this link but that is in Liferay 6.0 + not for Liferay 6.1

So, I have made some changes in that portlet and make it working for Liferay 6.1.

Here, I am attaching the same BBB client but with some changes so it will be available for Liferay 6.1.

Let me know inputs on the same.

Hi,

For setting up a meeting you have to set preferences.
Did you do that?

If you did not set the preferences then it will look BBB has to be setup on your local machine. As it is mentioned in error that it cannot find "http://localhost:80/bigbluebutton/api/", so either set your preferences with your BBB server or setup BBB on your local machine.

Hi,

You should refer this link for BBB installation.
Or
To set up preferences you need to go in to portlet preferences.
And set the required items and you can join the meeting in portlet.

I have checked the link to your BBB client doesn't work... Could I have the plugin? I'm interested to add video conference functionality to my portal but the I see that the current options are limited.

Is the client working with Liferay 6.1 or not yet?

I did not read this all messages about BBB Client protlet.

I developed the original portlet but last build version is for 6.0.6

I will re-build it today and will release a copy of war file.

Hopefully, it will be uploaded to MarketPlace soon.

I have a very strange problem... Actually I'm using Liferay 6.2 CE downloaded from github, but I think (I hope) the problem is not related to Liferay's version (6.1 vs 6.2).

1) If there is at least 1 person in the videoconference the plugin works OK. (The first person have to access outside Liferay -through another application- because 2) ).

2) If nobody is in the videoconference, the plugin creates the meeting but the user cannot join!!! Not shown any error (nor in the logs). Only the bigbluebutton's main page is displayed in the iframe.

I tried diferent options modifying your code, but I cannot solve the problem...
Do you have any idea?

I have just configured the options (server, salt) and after save the BBB's main page is displayed. I cannot join to the created conference.

The problem also exists if I try to access to the Demo Meeting from the main page displayed in the iframe. If nobody is in the Demo Meeting then I cannot access from Liferay. But if an user is already in the Demo Meeting, from Liferay I can access!! (¿?)

Hi,
I found the solution! (and the problem)
I have 2 PCs, the first one is running Liferay and the second one is running BBB.

The problem only exists with IE -not with Firefox or Chrome- due the cookie's management and the security profile: "cookies are blocked in IE frame object
because IE gives lower permission level to frame content"

Looks like nothing can be done in bbbClient-porltet doesn´t it?

Exactly! Adding the bbb server to IE's trusted sites or changing the IE's level security (not recommended...).

No changes are needed in bbbClient-porltet.

I installed BigBlueButton server using BigBlueButton VM.
I deployed bbbClient portlet given by Pranay in Liferay 6.1 GA2.
After changing preferences and setting up proper server,port,salt secret, I was successful in uisng this portlet.

Tried it for two different Liferay users and could join meeting and chat was working.
But I couldn't see "upload a document/Presentation icon" in this portlet.

Do we need to do extra configuration for it?
If yes ..then at liferay portlet level? [What is "bigbluebutton/api" in bbbClient portlet preferences screen...I did not change default value...]
Or BigblueButton server level. (Normal BigBlueButton server url from browser client works fine and shows upload a document/Presentation icon" )
