Roundtable: Digital Transformation in the UK Public Sector

Room: Oxford Room, Time: 10:30 - 11:00
Mike MacAuley
General Manager, Liferay
Session Summary:

A recent survey of over 200 public sector practitioners revealed some things we knew, and some we didn’t... 1: Budget remains the greatest driver for digital transformation. 2: Organisational change – not technology – is the biggest roadblock. 3: One in three have no unified digital strategy. Whether your pain point is the customer journey or staff buy-in or something else altogether, understanding people is the key starting point. Digital transformation starts with people and is a process that is facilitated by technology, but not the technology itself. So join your peers at this special roundtable dedicated to digital transformation in the public sector. With a diverse range of organisations at hugely different stages in the journey, there is a lot of wisdom and best practice to be learned from each other.

Speaking from Experience – The Must-Haves for Digital Transformation

Room: Coronet Room, Time: 11:50 - 12:20
Hazel Jones
VP, Head of Digital, Mastek
Session Summary:

It’s the little things that make all the difference. True digital experiences focus on removing points of friction through continuous and iterative improvement to the customer journey. Improving operational efficiency and reducing errors by pre-populating data fields where the data already exists in the backend. Using native mobile functionality such as Touch ID that customers are familiar with rather than reinventing the wheel. Achieving this level of empathy with your customer is what builds loyalty and longevity in the relationship. With the rate at which technology is advancing, it is a must that we change the way we think and design systems that inherently show how a business values its customers.
