Inaugurating the Liferay India Office

Here are some pictures of our new India office. It's in the Raheja Arcade, smack in the center of the Koramangala, the IT district of Bangalore. I was deeply humbled to witness our expansion into India. In these tough economic times, not too many companies are expanding. We've been blessed to be a leader in the open source portal and collaboration space, where demand has actually gone up during this economic downturn because we've been able to deliver more bang for the buck than our commercial counterparts at IBM and Oracle.

They are really into ceremonies in India. I got to cut a ribbon.

This office is different from our other offices around the world in that it has two floors and many rooms. Our other offices follow the format of one big war room or several war rooms.

An office is nothing more than real estate and furniture. To make it work, you gotta add that secret ingredient... people. I'm amazed at the talent of our growing Indian team.

The opening ceremony was on Good Friday, and to my surprise, it was a public holiday in India. It's not even a public holiday in the US.

Congratulations on opening Liferay office in India. We look forward to better collaboration with your team now. There is a Job Opportunity for Liferay Developers in Gurgaon, Delhi area. Visit www.yatra.com and apply from the careers section. Reference check will be required.
Congratulations!!!! Its great news for Liferay. I just had one question will Liferay in India will be involved in development and upgradation of new features of Liferay Software or just implementing Liferay
All of our offices are involved in every aspect. I'm a big believer in having well rounded offices instead of having an office that just does function X.

So our India office will be just like our US, EU, and China offices. It'll do core development, support, training, sales, and consulting.
Hey, its great to see Liferay office in India!
Congratulations!!

Thanks for sharing the snaps!
Congratulations!!!!
That's great news. Happy to hear that it will function as a complete unit out here.
Welcome to India emoticon !!!
Wow! I have been using Liferay for about a year now in my company. As of late any issues we would send it to our team in US and they would discuss it with the Liferay team over there. This would be really great. I hope that we could get in touch sometime and discuss issues if any when they arise. Congrats!!!!! once again.
Congrats Brian - way to go!! All the Best for the team @LR.

We have been using LR close to 3 yrs now - we now have what we believe is the first enterprise Idea Management platform in LR. We already have a Community powered Idea Incubation platform running @ http://www.PlanetAikon.com where there are 6 ideas being incubated by a community including NASSCOM Innovation Community.

Cheers
Yup, Dubai and Australia are on our list as well for future offices. We're trying our best to do things organically to make sure that every office we start has our DNA / culture so the company doesn't grow too fast.
That's a good idea. I've seen too much growth breaking companies apart. Do you have an expansion path for countries? I mean, like leveraging partnerships to gather talented and involved developers.
We grow very organically through the community and different partnerships. The last thing I want is to dilute our brand by growing too quickly. We've actually had a very concerted growth path even though we're at 100 in our headcount now.

We're very strict with who we hire and work with. It's a combination of competency and culture. We don't sacrifice one for the other.
