Portlet Preferences being lost or reverted to default

Greetings,
On the content pages of a website running on Liferay we are using the Web Content Display portlet to display web content articles. On the WCM Display we set a preference articleId and then pass in the id of the article as found in web content using Liferay control panel.
Everything works fine and the content is displayed. Now the problem...
Come back the next day, this is not specific as it is completely random, and the content is not being displayed anymore. Looking at the database and the preferences we can see the the articleId has been cleared.
The content still exist in web content but, the link between it and the WCM is lost. We starting to see this for other portlet preferences that does not involve the WCM or web content and this is proving to be a really huge problem.
If anyone has run into a similar issue and have found a fix, or even a pointer in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

We are having the same issue on our portles (portlets developed by us and where we are sure no preferences clean is done)
We have this environment:
Did you solve your problem? My impression is that it's something related to the copy/paste page function
Any idea is really appreciated
