Automation of discussion forums

Hi,

I'm developing a community in which the staging and the workflow options are enabled (3 level). I ve given permissions to some users for editing the pages and, after editing the pages they will be able to submit the proposals.

My question is that is there a way so that once the proposals are submitted a new thread is created in the discussion forums and an alert can be sent to the person who is present in the next level of the workflow ?

I did not tried this but i think you can do this. You must develop your own code at where you submit proposal for sending an alert message and also for creating a message(using API) with custom message.
