Difficulty in showing images in liferay on ie 6 browser

Hi,
I am developing a portlet in liferay 5.1.1 portal and on jboss-tomcat-4.0-5.1.2.

In that portlet I am having a page containing some images.

These images which are going to be displayed on that jsp page are stored in the database.

And I am using a servlet to retrive images from the database.

Whenever I tries to access this page containing the images on Internet Explorer ( IE )6 browser, rendering of the page becomes very slow.

Suppose that the page contains 10 images then i have to wait for at least 1 minute.

And all the images are of type "jpg". I have tried to access the same page from Fire Fox browser the page rendering is much faster than IE.

Also I have tried the to access the page containing images from the same server without liferay then also the page rendering is very fast.

And this problem is only with liferay with IE6 browser. So please help me as early as possible in resolving the issue.
