Changing database from MySQL to SQL Server not working

Hi Friends,

I m trying to change my Liferay database from MySQL to SQL Server 2008.
Liferay 5.2.3 is working fine with new configuration with SQL Server 2008.

But I m trying to convert the database from MySQL to SQL Server 2008 with existing data. I imported data from MySQL to SQL Server 2008 using MySQL ODBC Provider, data imported successfully but not working. So I tried to create tables in SQL Server 2008 using Portal-SLQ file available in Liferay Website. Then I took the SQL dump from MySQL and execute the insert query one by one. After inserting all the data into SQL Server 2008 then I started the Server with SQL Server Connectivity.

Server started and working fine. But I m unable to view Custom Portlets, Document Library Portlets and Web Contents.
There is no error in the console. All the communities, pages, roles and users are available.

Is there is any procedure for converting data from MySQL to SQL Server or is there is any more configuration is need to work.

Hi Manigandan,

I am not 100% sure, but probably these steps may work:

0. backup your data directory
1. Create exports (lar files) from the portal with MySQL database
2. Stop portal
3. Delete data directory
4. set portal-ext.properties to point to SQL Server 2008 new database
5. run portal
6. Import lars

Hi peter,

I export the lar files from Liferay 5.2.3 with MySQL database and imported the lar files in Liferay 5.2.3 with SQL Server 2008 database.
All lar files are imported successfully and working fine, except one lar file which has document library portlets, which is in separate community.
This lar file size is 2.5 GB. While import the lar file it show error. Error is attached text file.

I added an property for increasing upload limit size of file in portal-ext.properties file.

com.liferay.portal.upload.UploadServletRequestImpl.max.size=3221225472

But it wont work. Is there is any possibility to import this file.

Hi Manigandan,

You can also migrate your database from control panel -> Data Migration.

Here you can fill your SQL server configuration and Execute it.

After execution complete put the configuration setting of SQL server in portal-ext.properties and restart the server.

I tried Data Migration also. But it is not working.
Is there is any procedure to do the Data Migration and Conversion process from MySQL to SQL Server 2008.

Hi Manigandan,

if you need to transfer all of the data from one database to an other, the best is to use the data migration on the Control Panel. With export/import, you can transfer the content type data only.

The question is, what's the problem when you use the migration?

Ezzel nem tudja, csak a contenteket átvinni. Szerintem ő mindent akar. Most
nem tudom megnézni, de van már 5.2.3 alatt a adatbázis migrációs lehetőség
control panelen a server adminisztráció alatt? Újabb verziókon ott elvileg
lehet egy adatbázisból a másikba ott átvinni adatokat. Ha gondolod és van
időd, nézd meg.
