How to share specific document or folder with select user(s) ?

In Documents and Media, user can create a folder or upload a document and choose to share to others under 'Permissions'. However, the latter is only for Roles, eg Guest, Site Member. User cannot select by names of other users of the site

Appreciate if anyone can help me to overcome this ?

Sharing below work around I did.

I created a new Role with name it as the user's name.
Assign the actual user to this Role.

So when setting permission for a folder or file, we can see the user name (created role)
and allocate the required permissions accordingly.

Not graceful solution, but achieve the objective of allocate permission by 'User Name'
until someone share a better solution
