Chat Portlet Customization

Hello everyone,

If i post this thread because i want to know if there is a way to "customize" the chat portlet so that this portlet become a internal bulletin board.

I want to permit to every user to have access to their unread messages, and to send messages to other users.

I'm really really sorry for my English, but please, help me!
