Are you using Liferay IDE?
Are there any errors when you deploy the portlet?
Please attach your liferay-display.xml file.

I see display.xml file and liferay-display.xml.xml file. Are these the files you have in WEB-INF?

Can you attach your portlet here so we can look at it? Sorry, but I'm out of ideas about possible problems with your portlet.

Hi,
I saw your liferay-display.xml file as per the file the portlet must be displayed in Sample category of Add menu but I think still make sure about the following things.
(1) Make sure that your liferay-display.xml file is there in your WEB-INF folder.
(2) As you wrote if u succeed to deploy make sure the entry of your portlet is there in CONTROL PANEL-> Update Manager
(3) If stil not than try to deploy your portlet using command prompt hopping it will work.
