Stalls on Captcha.properties in portal-impl.jar

I downloaded the src and followed the directions to build the extensions environment. I start up tomcat and navigate to localhost:8080, and then I sign in with the account [e-mail] and the password as test. Tomcat stalls on Loading jar:file:/C:/tomcat/tomcat-6.0.13/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/portal-impl.jar!/captcha.properties. I am unable to complete the login process, because it stalls on this. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

I've disabled captcha, now it doesn't give me an error, but it just stalls on the login

I believe I'm getting the same error. How did you go about disabling captcha? And was that your ultimate solution? i appreciate any advice you might have to share.
