Does liferay support SMTP

Hi,

I have configured smtp settings in server admin portal. But when the mails are being sent it is not going through through that smtp server name , instead mail is being sent by javamail.
My requirement is when we send mails, they should go from that smtp server name. for example if i specify the smtp host name as "smtp.1xyz1.com" mails should go from that name.
.
It will be great help if any on put some light into this problem.

To clarify for other users, Liferay sends mail using javamail to the specified smtp server which relays the mail.
