Slow loading when a page has articles list portlet [Liferay 5.2.1]

Hello liferay community!

We are running on Liferay 5.2.1.
After a server error we restored the website through our backup [folder and database].
The website deploys BUT there is a problem when loading pages that contain article list portlet.
It takes more than 20-40 seconds to load that page.

I would guess that for some reason mysql queries are slow but i am not liferay expert so i do not know where to start!

Any suggestions?

5.2.1 was released in February 2009, the last update on the 5.2 CE version (5.2.3) was released in May 2009 and been completely replaced by 6.0.0 in March 2010. Since then we've seen 6.1, 6.2 and are currently at 7.0 CE - I'd not waste too much time debugging/fixing this one portlet, but rather the whole infrastructure. You could start by upgrading to 5.2.3, but even there I doubt that a lot of people will have enough active memory to help.
