Liferay CE GA4 and chat portlet

I need to know if Liferay CE GA4 will include chat portlet again and it will allow OpenFire integration.
Is there a close date for the release of this release?

No, that's been externalized to a marketplace plugin.

And no, I don't think it ever had or had plans for XMPP support.

Besides, this is not really something you want at a Liferay server level. If you have an OpenFire server, then you want to use JS in the browser to talk to it to get status updates and chat details. Pushing any of that through Liferay is a delay you don't really want or need. If you don't know where to start, try googling for "xmpp browser client" for browser-based implementations.

Liferay Chat portlet supports Jabber/XMPP protocol, at least in 6.1 and 6.2 version, see:

I in my opinion, future Liferay Chat for 7.0 / DXP will also support that functionality

Thanks, Jorge, I stand corrected on XMPP support.

Although personally I'd still look at doing a browser-based solution and take Liferay out of the mix
