I'm not deeply familiar with jboss configuration - however it probably is a configuration that you can have on that appserver. At least on tomcat I'm aware that you can put it in "production mode" where tomcat doesn't check for jsp modifications once they're compiled, to save some time. This might be exactly what you're running into on jboss, but I can't tell you the exact option to change. You might get something from
