You have to drag/drop at least one field from the left to the right. Otherwise the structure is empty and will fail to be validated as a valid structure (which internally is XML, hence the (misleading) error message.
If you have done this, switch to the "source" mode and send a screenshot of the xml (or just copy/paste into this thread).
