Uploading fails when quotation mark in file name

I noticed the following:
When uploading a file with a quotation mark (') in the file name using the document library, the upload reports no problems, but the file is not shown in the document library.

Environment:
Liferay version: 6.0.5
Platform: Linux (Ubuntu 10.10)
Browser: Firefox for Ubuntu 3.6.13

Which brings me to the following question:
Could this be a this a bug, or did I do something wrong?

It's a bug (that probably won't be fixed)... see this issue. The special characters cause problems elsewhere. However, you can use the "Classic" uploader where you assign the file a new name on upload.

Marco, I was unable to reproduce your bug. I used the file name test'me.txt and I got an error complaining about the file name.

I tried it with that file name and got the result I got earlier: no error, but no uploaded file either.

So the question now is: what is the difference between our environments...

I got the "no error but no upload" when I tried it on 6.0.5. This is on a Mac.

I've tested on Win7+Firefox/Chrome as well as Ubuntu+Firefox. (See attached screen shot).

The closest I got to reproducing your result is if I select a zero byte file. The file will not show up under "files ready to be uploaded". But this happens before I click on the "Upload Files" link and it happens regardless of whether the file has a ' in the name or not.

Interesting.
My test-environment in the 64 bits version of Ubuntu 10.10/firefox 3.6.13 with (on the same computer) the 6.0.5 liferay/tomcat bundle.

Marco, I don't have a 64-bit Ubuntu to test with easily, so can you create a ticket in our bug tracker. I think this issue is different from the one James mentioned previously.
