license installation in liferay 6

Hi

My company has bought enterprise version of LR 5.x , we also have developer licenses.
Recently, we tried to run LR 6 EE (tomcat bundle 6.0.10) but after starting we get page with message 'This server is not registered.' .
The question is: how do we install the license, what is the procedure? Do we have to have separate developer licenses for LR 6 or should we use existing LR 5 licenses ?

Hi Wojtek,

You should speak to your Liferay contact person and ask for Liferay 6.0 licenses. License activation has changed from 5.2 to 6, so you will need new license files.

When you get the files, you will be able to activate Liferay Portal by deploying the License file (by copying the file into the deploy folder, i.e: [TOMCAT_DIR]/deploy)

We are using Liferay 6 EE SP1.

When I copy the license file (xml) to the deploy folder,
a new folder data/ee is created containing a file with the license information.
So far so good!

But how can we influence where the ee/ folder is located?

The location of all other folders under data like lucene or jackrabbit can be influenced by different properties like
lucene.dir=${liferay.home}/data/lucene/

We need to modify the location of the ee-folder. How can this be done?
Is there a property for the location of the ee-folder?

Hi Frank Pientka,

You just have to put up license-portal-developer-6.0.xml into deploy folder of Tomcat.
This XML file have <key> tag that sets to liferay key . At deployment time server automatically take key from this file and you can see liferay welcome page.

I have deployed my license xml and using it since 7 months now.

But now it is showing me license expiration and deploying the same xml file is not working.

Kindly suggest me what to do.

I am also getting the same problem of The Server is not Registered. even i have kept the license key file inside the tomcat server/deploy folder.

Please solve my issues...if possible give step by step solution.

Licenses do not live forever. If you have an expired license, you need to get a new one.

Not sure if I am right but isn't it said that the copy of the EE version is perpetual (lives forever) and the one year period is only for the support and software updates?

Correct me if I'm wrong because i'm quite interested. Staff members?
