New 6.2. CE GA4 release

Hi community!

As you may know, we already had some discussions here about the need for another CE GA release.

Here in Liferay all your feedback gets heard sooner or later, so if you are guessing what's the current state of the release, I can tell you we are working hard on it for fixing not only that forum thread issue, but many others as well. We have been collecting some other LPS that could have been reproducible in some cases and added them to this CE GA4 release too.

Additionally, there will be the latest security fixes and some others we considered important.

Finally, you probably are wondering when the new great CE GA4 release will come out? The tentative date now is April 9th. But do not consider this date as fixed, as the release should go to some validation processes this date may vary.

Hi again!

Due to a last-minute issue found in the GA release that was planned to be released yesterday, we decided to include it in this release as well in order to improve the GA quality.

So, we have to delay the release to April 17th, as we have to restart some of our internal processes for release.

Hi all!

This week, after some final testing been made by some community users, we found a bug:

https://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-34989

Although it doesn't affect Liferay Portal, and it can't be reproduced under some environments, it can cause some confusion when unzipping from bundle and installing for the first time (Setup Wizard) .

So we decided to fix it and add together with GA4 too.

This time the delay should be only few days, we hope to have everything ready by next Tuesday April 21th. The good news is that we don't expect any other delay, as the other tests went ok.

We are sorry about this delay. Thanks again for your patience, we hope that this is the definitive release date.

This was all my fault. Thought it was just an innocuous one-off sort of thing that might prove confusing to new users (one of the primary purposes of the bundles).

And it almost went unreported - I waited until the last possible second to send in...

This is the whole reason we re-spun the build - first impressions. This issue doesn't cause data loss, security breaches, or other disasters, but when over half the people are faced with a big ugly red error after install, well.. it's a no-brainer in my book!

The funny thing is, the bug has been there all along - if you take previous 6.2 builds, and wait at the "Go to my portal" screen for 60 seconds, then click, you'll get it every time!

Tim Telcik actually found this in 6.2.0 Milestone 5 too back in 2013, but it wasn't 100% reproducible across all machines, so at the time no one else that was involved was able to reproduce it.

This one was also not 100% reproducible (as Juan mentions) - half of our team got it, half did not. A race condition I'm pretty sure, but one that is solved with Juan's fix.
