Hi all,

I have set up the first version of Liferay Social Office and it's running fairly okay. My problem is, that I'm not able (as a user) to post replies on blog entries. However, I can do that as an administrator, so it's obviously a permission problem. The thing is, as in contrast to Liferay, I cannot "manage pages" nor can I edit the portlet configuration which I would have normally done to tune the permissions. So I thought I'd have to add a portlet permission to my role, but there's no "Post reply"-permission but just the usual suspects (View, Add Entry, etc.).

Any thoughts on that? Am I missing something or do I have to configure this permissions in another way in Social Office?

Any hint is greatly appreciated.

Hi Dennis,

Yeah, we goofed on setting the permissions correctly in the first
beta. We're aiming to have a second beta available by the end of the
month that will have those issues corrected.

In the meantime—check out the new Control Panel (find it in the drop
down menu). Some people have used this to configure the necessary
permissions to correct this problem.

Hi Bryan,

thanks for your information. Could you please give me a hint as to where configure the appropriate permissions in the control panel since I couldn't manage up until know. I'm quite familiar with the configuration of Liferay. However, I couldn't find appropriate settings in SO. E.g. I cannot configure Portlet-permissions "Post Reply" (but only View, Post, etc.).

Any additional hint from you or somebody would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bryan,

yes, and its working now (which wasn't the case when I tried it earlier :-( ). So after provisioning the "Add Discussion" to the appropriate users, a user is able to post a reply.

BTW: The subject of a Message Board thread cannot be changed. Otherwise I would have put a "SOLVED" up front... :-)
