Client side validation on submitting form

Hi all,

I am facing problem while validating form fields in javascript, because on error occurrence i want to stop form to get submitted.
Both event.preventDefault(), and return false; are not working,
Can anyone suggest solution for this

Will it be possible to share your code? Or do you want the community to guess what the code is and provide all possible solutions?
