Email Communities

Hi there,

I am looking for advice on how to implement a mail interface that can be used by administrators to send emails to one or more communities at once. Say UserX is a community admin for CommABC and CommDEF.
He wants to notify all the members of these two communities of a new feature available in their communities, so he needs to email all the members of these two communities at once.

Is there any built in feature that allows a community admin to email all the members of one community or multiple communities at once ?
If not, what would be the best starting point and development scenario to custom develop this?

Any interest to have this feature included in LR's core functionality ?

We'd like to see this as part of a larger set of CRM portlets. This LINK goes to a list of open source CRM's that are already written in Java. Many are already web based and could be pulled in pretty easily, I would think. However, it should integrated into users, groups, communities, etc. and it would resolve the ability to contact all the users of a specific group.
