What is Portlet Faces bridge?

I'm new to Liferay JSF portlet and would like to know, What is Portlet Faces bridge?

Hi Vicky,

PortletFaces Bridge was a JSF2 portlet bridge project that was originally developed at portletfaces.org by Liferay partners Triton and Mimacom.

On April 3, 2012 the codebase was contributed to Liferay and the project was renamed to Liferay Faces Bridge.
