Can't stage content after password reset

weird thing is going on with our portal here.
let me sketch the setup we have ( nothing to fancy)

we have a liferay 6.0.5 with tomcat 6.0 as a remote environment. same setup for the live environment.
Only administrators are allowed to stage in our portal.
Our users are imported trough ldap (MS AD).

a colleague of mine (portal admin) could stage everything he wanted, new page, updated page, deleted page,...
then he changed his password. since that day he can't stage anymore. he still has the menu but when he clicks 'OK'
the staging menu disappears and nothing happens.
Same thing has happened to 5 persons now in my company all of them after they changed password.

problem with this issue is that there is not a trace in the log not on the remote server, not on the live server.

any thoughts on this?

this issue still hasn't been resolved.
any suggestion is welcome...
