Use XHTML in Liferay

One of the first things I saw on www.liferay.com was the XHTML error and warning indicator of the Html Validator plugin in Firefox.

When I searched the Wiki about XHTML I only found 2 articles recommending to use XHTML but the bulk of Liferay pages seem to ignore that.

BTW: The editor page for this text has 123 errors and 17 warnings :-)

Are there plans to switch all rendering to XHTML in the future?

We'll be moving to HTML 5 with Liferay Portal 5.3 due out in Q4 2009.
