Regularize use of application and/or portlet terminology

Sometimes portlets are called applications (such as "Add Application") and sometimes they are called portlets. It would be nice to choose one term and stick with it throughout. My choice would be portlet.

Fully agreed, we should be consistent. We've done some improvements in this area in trunk already, although we decided to use the term "application" (other terms such as box, gadget, widget, ... were considered but discarded).

The main reasons are:
1) Most people who use a computer know what an application is but few know what a portlet is
2) Portlet is an specific technology. Liferay wants to be able to support a wide variety of technologies for application integration, including Google Gadgets and other types of widgets
3) There is no perfect term that fits all cases, so we had to choose

I'd appreciate if you let us know of specific inconsistencies that are still present in trunk.
