Jonas Yuan and I have written a new book titled Liferay 6.2 User Interface Development (https://www.packtpub.com/liferay-6-2-user-interface-development/book). It is about the development of themes, page layouts and portlets for Liferay portal 6.2.

This book is an upgrade version of the Liferay User Interface Development book. Jonas and I have re-written almost all the chapters. The book reflects the latest technologies used in the Lifeay portal and the best practices in implementing Liferay portal projects.

Liferay 6.2 User Interface Development is a practical book. We first wrote code, tested it and wrote text about the code. Much of the code can be slightly modified and used directly on your Liferay portal projects.

When we wrote this book, we tried our best to avoid topics that have already been covered in the Liferay documentation. For example, we did not write about MVCPorlet because it has been extensively covered in the online documentation at the Liferay site. Instead, we explained in details simple JSR 286 portlet, Spring MVC portlets and Vaadin porlets. We included the Vaadin portlets because several of our clients required us to develop Vaadin portlets in the Liferay portal. The book is a great complement to the Liferay documentation.
