Hi Team,

We have identified an issue when we migrate from Liferay 5.2.3 to Liferat 6.1 GA1.

We have some images uploaded under Image Gallery in Liferay 5.2.3 and we have created some Web Contents as well using those images through <img> tag with SRC of IMAGE tag pointing to image URL (URL starts with /image_gallery/image?imgid=37483747862387432, something like this).

Now in LIferay 6.1, only Document Library and Media has come-in and Images also has to go under this folder.

Now When I see the new image that I upload there in Doument Library and Media, which is formed something like this (/document......),

My point is, how the old web content articles which is already having <img src="/image_gallery/..." tag will point to new image which is there in Doument Library Portlet.

Has anyone come across this issue? Please do let me know. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Srik

In Liferay 5.x, images by default are saved in a database. In Liferay 6.x, images by default are saved in a file system. If you were able to migrate files successfully, you can edit the web contents manually or you can write a convertor to change the url.

Thank you Hitoshi for answering this.

We have migrated the images files as well. But the issue that I have is, how can you identify which URL we need to use for replacing the current image URL in the Web Content Article. Let us assume, we have 1000+ articles. How can we do this manually or how converter can identify exact image and replace with the correct image?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Srik

Hi Srikanth,

We anticipated this issue when moving from 5.2.3 to Liferay 6.1 so we wrote a custom migration too that created mapping files that listed the old (5.2.3) image ID's to new (6.1) ID's. Then after import we read these files into a Java Map, and ran through all the Journal Articles that had URLs to the Image Gallery. When we found a URL we extracted it's ID, looked it up in the map, then found the new Image in documents and media, constructed the new URL, and replaced it in the Journal Article. Voila!

It wasn't easy as there are a number of different variations of URL etc (small image, large image etc etc), but that's how we solved the issue.

Sorry, I have my own migration tools but I still don't have one for 6.1.0 GA1 because it's too buggy and not worth the migration especially from 5.2.3 which is very stable.

That said, have you tried using Liferay's Control Panel -> Server Adminstration -> Migration
