How to Add the Chat Portlet

With Liferay 5.1, we introduced a new Chat Portlet.  Here are instructions on how to add it

Start by getting to the "Plugins Installer".  You'll see that the Chat Portlet is one of the options.

 

Select the latest version of the Chat Portlet and click "Install".

 

The Chat Portlet will start to install and you will see a message that it has installed successfully.

 

You'll see that your Tomcat console has the Chat Portlet install logs.

 

Once you goto another page, you'll see the portlet at the bottom.

You don't add, it automatically picks up logged in "friends". Very much like facebook.

If I already have an OpenFire server with hundreds of users that not all of them use the liferay portal? Can I still have an external XMPP server?
Does the 4.x version chat portlet work with a Liferay Portal 5.1?

and how do we manage the friends ? Now every logged in one at the community appears as friend.
I want to set it as add friend, like you have at the www.liferay.com

This is senthil.

How to Increase the Online user count. Cuttently its showing only 20 users(Limited).

If user is more then 20 are not visible in the chat window. Please refer the screenshot.

For this i changed add the below code in portlet.porperties(\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-6.0.18\webapps\Chat\WEB-INF\src\.

buddy.list.maxbuddies=500

After this i have restarted the webserver, but there is no cahnge.

So please help us on this.
