Journal Content Search Portlet Preferences

Hi,

I have embedded Journal Content Search Portlet in theme using $theme.journalContentSearch(). After that have modified configuration.jsp of journal content search portlet to add two more preferences in the configuration. Now problem is that, when set some value for those two configuration on one page(layout) and save that, those configuration are not visible on another page(layout). What could be the reason? Is there any solution to store those two additional preferences for all pages of the site.
