Is it possible to use both Liferay 6.2 and 7 together?

I wanted to know whether I can use both Liferay 6.2 and Liferay 7.0 together in my machine and can switch between them whenever required? Actually I have several projects running in 6.2. So if I upgrade to 7.0 will the projects and the data get lost? If it is possible to migrate the projects from 6.2 to 7.0 then please write the steps so that I can do so.

Instructions on upgrading to Liferay Portal 7.0 can be found at https://dev.liferay.com/discover/deployment/-/knowledge_base/7-0/upgrading-to-liferay-7

Once you have upgraded to Liferay Portal 7.0, you will not be able to go back to Liferay Portal 6.2 (unless you're restoring from a backup). Your data will be preserved when you upgrade.

What Samuel says. However, you can run both versions at the same time on the same machine, provided you bind to separate ports and use separate databases and storage.
