Login and dockbar disappeared

Hello and thanks for reading,

Trying to avoid users page creation we put in the portal-ext.properties the following keywords:

layout.user.public.layouts.enabled=false
layout.user.private.layouts.enabled=false

at restarting, since that moment, the login box has disappeared...
Direct links to login and adminstration functions (eg: localhost:8080/c/portal/login, localhost:8080/group/control_panel) are working properly
but the left vertical dockbar and the adminstration toolbar does'nt show in the page...
We are using the Community Edition 6.2 CE GA4

Any suggestion on what to do ?

Thanks so much for you help - Francesco

When you say "the login box has disappeared" - do you refer to the dockbar (top right, blue background in classic theme)? Or to the login portlet that is (by default) on the home page? Or both?

I've tried it, works for me (though I only have a newer EE running currently) - you might want to check what else you have running (e.g. if you have conflicting hooks that override the same JSPs), if there's any output in the logs, or if the issue still appears in GA6.

Both the login portlet on the home page and the top right dockbar are not showing. Do you think that an upgrade could restore some setting to anable again these functions ?

Usually, the properties « layout.user.public.layouts.enabled » and « layout.user.private.layouts.enabled » refer to user personal sites. This should neither mess up the dockbar nor the login portlet. Did you do some specific developments on the log-in page that may have an impact on Liferay's normal behaviour?

Hello Patrick,
the only thing we did was moving the search portlet over the navigation bar (Welcome) and customize the language change icons. But this was done almost a month ago. Since that customizzation we had restarts and there was'nt any problem...

thanks - Francesco

Do you have any errors in Liferay's log or your application server's log while the log-in page is loading? Look also for errors in your HTTP server.

Thanks for your suggestion, in effect the log showed this error:

08:58:35,901 ERROR [http-bio-8080-exec-1][IncludeTag:129] Current URL / generates exception: java.lang.StackOverflowError
java.lang.StackOverflowError

The issue was resolved by a user who replaced the ROOT/html directory from a clean install of liferay. We did the same and the top bar has appeared again.

Here is the whole thread:

https://www.liferay.com/it/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/35666430

probably this reporting should be investigated by the development team because it affects a recent release (GA4).

Thanks - Francesco

Hi, do you experience the same behaviour using the default Liferay theme?

Thanks Fabio,
we restored the original theme but no success. The login portlet is not shown at all...
