Liferay Calendar portlet as WAR plugin ?

Hello,

I would like to run the Liferay Calendar portlet as a separated WAR file. I.e. organize it as plugin project in LiferayPluginSDK environment.
Anybody ever done such thing ? Is this possible to perform ?

i hope you can, but there is lot of efforts required to achieve it.

I am ready to put any effort, but just want to be sure that in theory it is possible to separate the embedded portlet into a WAR file.
Hopefully someone who has similar experience could drop a few notes here ...
