Global navigation Area:difference between Enterprise and Community Edition

Hi Everyone,


I've downloaded and installed the latest version of Liferay social office: liferay-social-office-1.5b.zip

I noticed that there are some differences between the Global navigation area description at page 15 of the working-smarter-so.pdf and the Global navigation area of my local installation
particularly with respect to button Application and button Layout.

Why this differences? Is a matter of difference between the Enterprise Edition and the Community Edition?

Hi Tiziana,

Yes, you've hit the nail right on the head, so to speak. The documentation was prepared for the EE version of Social Office, and there are slight differences in the UI. Hopefully they won't impact you so much.

We will be releasing an update to Social Office CE, based on Liferay 6, after Liferay 6 goes GA. At that point, the docs and the interface for CE should mesh. I apologize for any difficulties you may have experienced.

This can be possible by changing the portal.properties file under [Tomcat Dir]\webapps\so-hook\WEB-INF\src. In social office, the portlets are fixed for the page layout. You can modify this file to remove portlet. You should also see into portlet.properties file which is available at the same location.
