AlloyUI popover on save/edit colour in calendar

Hi guys,

I am baffled with when saving/editing an event, how can I change the colour that appears when it displays in the calenar.
I think as I have gone out of scope of the initial values that appear in the popover already - the original Alloy code dont know about it.
So currently in my popover I have added 2 selectlist fields: availability_status and shiftype.
Idea is , on save/edit, the availability_status values are presented with different colours, eg. available would be green and unavailable will be red.
Just need some guidance on how I can push this js event into the calendar?
