Backup/Restore of Social Office?!

Hello all,

I recently had a problem with a testing server and it basically imploded. I've recovered all data from the machine, but it is non-bootable. As such, I was not able to run any backups on the machine before it failed.

The SO installation was vanilla - internal database (no mysql).

My challenge: Since I have all of the files from the SO server, can I reconstruct the installation using just the files? Namely this...what and where are the configuration files and internal database (for document repository)? Can I simply use these in a fresh install?

Many thanks,
Trevor.

Just copy the liferay SO folder. It should work.
Data are stored in the embedded database (file based), documents are stored and versionned in "data" folder.
I hope it helped.

Hi Karim and thanks for your reply.

Do you mean the "root" SO folder, as in /opt/liferay-social-office-1.5b? (/opt/ is where I installed my SO to).

Cheers,
Trevor.

you should have these folders inside:
-data
-deploy
-tomcat-6.0.18

Done. Worked perfectly! Custom logos, user accounts, sites, everything.

I did have to revert to HTTP instead of HTTPS, but just until I rebuild the certificates. All else works just fine, although when I go to Control Panel, Server, Server Administration - the pane is blank with no Actions, data, or other information. Any ideas on that?

Thanks indeed!
